In Aginity Pro 0.13.218 and earlier we see about 0.5% of the time Aginity Pro not be able to open with an error message that may look something like this.
The key thing we see in this error is that the encrypted H2 database which we use to store all of your query history and connection information is not able to be decrypted.
We have not been able to isolate the root cause yet of this error but are adding routines in future versions to prevent multiple connections to H2 which we feel may be the root cause of the issue.
If you encounter this error you can overcome it by reinstalling Aginity Pro using the steps listed below.
Unfortunately, the re-installation will require you to recreate the connections and catalog items (see recommendation below)
1. Uninstall Aginity Pro by deleting it from your applications folder on Mac or using Windows "Add or Remove Programs" in Control Panel.
2. On Mac, navigate from Finder to ~/Library/Application Support/ and rename aginity-pro directory to something like OLD_aginity-pro. This way we can keep it if needed.
If on Windows go to Windows Explorer and do the same thing but in C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Local/Aginity directory and rename aginity-pro to OLD-aginity-pro
3. Reinstall the product which should create a new version of the database that is not corrupted.
4. The main issue with this approach is you will lose Catalog items and your connections. In the newest version of our product you can Import/Export catalog items and we recommend doing that regularly.
In version 0.13.218 we released the Import/Export of your catalog items to a local file. We highly recommend you do this regularly as a backup strategy to ensure you don't lose any of your catalog items.
Our support team will keep you posted as we learn anything new and/or rollout the fix to this issue.
