Using Discovery Panel in Aginity Pro

Discovery Panel is a unique and very handy feature that allows you to identify and reuse previously executed or saved code quickly.

HOW TO USE DISCOVERY PANEL

  1. To get started, go to the top corner of the sidebar on the right Click on the Discovery tab, and you will see the Discovery Assistant menu. mceclip0.png
  2. By default, you can search both your query execution history (SQL) and Catalog simultaneously.
  3. If you want to focus on just one option, select the panel's corresponding radio button.
  4. When you've found the needed object, you can right-click on it to preview, open in tab, copy SQL, edit or delete from Catalog.

Searching Query Execution History

  1. When you select the SQL history button, the search engine will automatically sort through all your query execution history and display all the available results.
  2. If needed, type in any relevant text in a search field to narrow the results. mceclip2.png
  3. You can also filter the search results based on the database type or run date. mceclip3.png

Searching Aginity Catalog

  1. If you want to search in the Catalog only, click on the respective radio button. It will restrict your search, as shown below. Then, follow the pattern as with query execution history. mceclip6.png
  2. If you want to reference a catalog directly in a query, click on the (mceclip10.png) symbol at the top left corner next to the Catalog name.

Expanding the Results

  1. Once you are done with a search, Aginity will dynamically update the results in the Discovery Panel to match the entered search terms.
  2. By default, you'll see a small part of the query. If you need to see more, click on the two-arrows symbol ( mceclip9.png ) that appears when you drag your cursor to the top right corner of the particular item. It'll expand the snippet further.
