    We've been using the latest release, and so far so good.

    One major caveat is that user TEMP tables are not preserved in the session.

    If your users rely on TEMP tables to break queries don't upgrade or you'll get complaints.

    Workbench is not keeping a connection to the database open. Greenplum, as well as all MPP databases, has a limited number of server connections available. Keeping a connection for each query open would exhaust the available connections pretty quickly.

    There's a connection pooling mechanism that keeps just some number of connections open on the client. Therefore, sometimes  you can see the temp tables on the consecutive exec, sometimes you cannot. That is the bahavior by design.
